Optimism and pessimism are mental ways of thinking and seeing things. Optimists see the positive side of things – hope that things will turn out well. But, pessimists don’t see the positive side of things – think things won’t go well.
Optimistic Personality :
Optimist – Positive thinker about the future, optimistic and confident.
Optimistic person – sees benefits as more important than risks. So, he considers the pros and cons of various options before making a decision.
Optimistic person – sees the obstacle as temporary which allows him to do what he needs to do to overcome the obstacle.
Example:
Mauri does poorly on an exam – but decides to focus on learning how to do better on the next exam.
Pessimistic Personality :
Pessimist – negative thinker, habit of seeing the worst or believing that the worst will happen.
Pessimistic person – considers obstacles and risks more important than benefits. So, he procrastinates – and considers easier options before making a decision.
The pessimistic person sees the obstacle as permanent – causing them to abandon that particular field and stop.
Example:
Maury is planning to go to a party – but she thinks the event will be boring or unpleasant.
