Old-Generation Marriage considerations:

• Older generations didn’t bother to get to know each other too much before marriage. Decisions are made by experienced families – they agree to the family decision and pledge to continue the marriage for life – and continue.
• Older generation had a stable attitude of love, concern – to repair damaged relationships through self and family counseling – which ultimately led to keeping the relationship alive.
• Older generations loved each other and the family with companionship and security. They took care of their own happiness and unhappiness, not from others. Childbearing, rearing and housework were expected.
• Older generation did not have a policy of throwing away material things or relationships if they were not liked.
• As long as there was no physical or emotional abuse in the marriage the older generation adapted and moved on.
• Divorce was a very remote option – until things got so bad – and when nothing worked.

পুরানো প্রজন্মের বিবাহের বিবেচনা:

• পুরানো প্রজন্ম বিয়ের আগে একে অপরকে অনেক বেশী জানার জন্য চিন্তা করতো না। অভিজ্ঞ পরিবারের পক্ষ থেকে সিদ্ধান্ত নেওয়া হয়েছে- তারা পারিবারিক সিদ্ধান্তে রাজি হয়ে আজীবন বিয়ে চালিয়ে যাওয়ার অঙ্গীকার করেছেন – এবং চালিয়েও গেছেন।
• পুরানো প্রজন্মের ভালবাসা, উদ্বেগ – নিজের এবং পরিবারের পরামর্শের মাধ্যমে ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত সম্পর্ক মেরামত করার স্থিতিশীল মনোভাব ছিল – যা শেষ পর্যন্ত সম্পর্ককে বাঁচিয়ে রাখতে এগিয়ে নিয়ে যেত।
• পুরানো প্রজন্ম স্বামী-স্ত্রী একে অপরকে এবং পরিবারকে ভালোবাসতো সাহচর্য ও নিরাপত্তা দিয়ে। তারা নিজেরাই নিজেদের সুখ-দুঃখের যত্ন নিত, অন্যদের কাছ থেকে নয়। সন্তানের জন্ম, লালন-পালন এবং গৃহস্থালির কাজ প্রত্যাশিত ছিল।
• পুরানো প্রজন্মের পছন্দ না হলে বস্তুগত জিনিস বা সম্পর্কের ক্ষেত্রে ব্যবহার করে নিক্ষেপ করার নীতি ছিল না।
• বিবাহে যতক্ষণ না কোনও শারীরিক বা মানসিক নির্যাতন না হতো পুরানো প্রজন্ম নিজেদের মানিয়ে নিত  এবং মানিয়ে চলতো।
• বিবাহবিচ্ছেদ খুব দূরবর্তী বিকল্প ছিল – যতক্ষণ না জিনিসগুলি এত খারাপ হয় – এবং যখন কিছুই কার্যকর না হয়।
